Checks
for & indicates unusual self-discharge trends
During every hour of the maintenance / storage cycle: a voltage of 13,6V is applied for 30 minutes and followed by 30 minutes when charging is interupted, to check for excessive current drain from connected components. OptiMate provides up to 600mA of current for vehicle alarms or to negate the effects of aged wiring or even the battery itself (as the battery ages it will self discharge quicker). If current draw from connected components cause the battery voltage to drop below 12,2V the WEAK LED will light to warn of a problem. Maintenance charging will continue.
